The Temperate Rain Forest has many broad leave trees that shade the moist forest floor, where little green plants grow. This biome is very diverse. It ranges in with animals from mice to cougars, and plants from pine to gum. The soil is very moist and rich due to the constant rain averaging 12 ft a year. The Rain Forest is very vulnerable to destruction, but has managed to reach its climax community. On the map below you will see that there is little forest compared to the rest of the world.
